NBD (Jaw-dropping G&L Content)

I just realized this is a maple cap neck, so cool.

I have to say it again, this neck is "to die for." I've never played a more beautiful neck in my life. Fender AVRI / American Original Precision doesn't even come close. I've owned both as well as at least 10 other Fenders. It reminds me more of an EBMM Stingray classic mixed with a Fender Jazz.

The putrid headstock design with the wood drip is horrid and inhibits sales.
Always stops me looking further. Once walked into a mum & pop store with 4 G&L's and an MIA Precision. I looked at and bought the precision and never even picked up the G&L's for that very reason. Won't consider paying money for ugly.
And you were happier with a lesser bass?

I just bought a 1981 Wunkay, and my initial thought is that I may be done with P basses. And I love P basses.

Beautiful bass, OP. Enjoy it!

yep, I’ve already listed my American Special P for sale. The quality and feel replaces any Fender, and with flats I can’t tell much of a difference in sound at all except that the G&L sounds a little more growly wide open but then has even more options. And the neck on the G&L is Rolls Royce status.

Way to derail OP’s excitement by ranting about something that has nothing to do with his purchase.

Unintended truth. Fact is, the headstock I was referring to was commented on by a previous contributor and I was responding to that in agreement. The OP's bass is a nice looking guitar and my comment in typical internet fashion was associated to that when that was never the intention. The internet will always be an inferior communication tool to speech. Again, the OP's guitar looks fine to me.

Bring that bass on down to your local Woodcrafter's shop and when you get it home you're going spend some time wiping drool off of it.

I can't honestly think of seeing nicer finish and wood grain figuring on anything made of wood anywhere, nohow.

Well done!!

thanks a lot, I really enjoy it as well. It seems to melt in all directions in unison with the shape of the body and also the headstock.

It took months for this to come in stock, but it's finally mine. A beautiful 2022 G&L L-1000 in natural swamp ash. 8 lbs 10oz. Just strung it up with La Bella LTF-4A flats. Magical. The neck, the low action, wow...I just can't even....

I'll post more comments later. I'm sort of speechless over this one...

Stunning. Man how I wish they could go back to that headstock for everything they make.
