Man, I'm so happy! Just got a great bass that I didn't plan to buy, but I'm glad I did.

Some background story on this. JMS (Junk Music Store) is a small company here in Portugal that deals with used and reconstructed instruments. They offer repair, setups, modifications and luthery services.
They build basses from used parts, upgrade a lot of stuff and sell them for really affordable prices.

Some time ago, I saw this bass on their website and I really liked it but didn't push the button because I wasn't planning on getting it, although I felt tempted. I always liked the Precision Telecaster models with the single coil pickup because of the looks and the story behind it.

Well, yesterday I saw this same bass for sale at a facebook group and I messaged the seller. We spoke and he made a great price and I made the buy. And just got this beautifull new bass for 240 euros!!! I mean, it has nitro finish, seymour duncan pickup, has a piezo pickup that you can solo or blend it with the single coil using a 3 way switch, high mass bridge, gold hardware, maple fingerboard.

My brother has this because he lives in Lisbon and he met with the seller to pick up the bass, but I don't know if I can have it this weekend or if I'll have to wait for a couple of weeks for him to came to our hometown. He said that the bass is in great shape. I can't wait to have it in my hands.

Here are the full specs:
Color: Sunburst
Body Material: Alder
Body Finish: Nitrocellulose Lacquer
Fretboard: Canadian Maple
Neck Material: Maple
String Nut: Synthetic Bone
Pickup Seymour Duncan
Number of Frets: 20
Tuning Machines: Vintage-Style
Neck Plate: Standard 4 Bolt
Controls: Volume, Tone, 3 way switch
Pickguard: 3-Ply vintage black
Bridge: Hi-Mass 4-Saddle bass + Piezo

Here are the pics. I took them from the store website and from the seller's ad. I'll update further with pictures when I finally get the bass.

I've had this bass for a few days now and I really love it.
That Seymour Duncan pickup is pure gold. I never tried a single coil precision style bass before (well, I've soloed the neck pickup on my jazz a few times if that counts...) but it really has a diferent personality on its own. It sounds like a p-bass, but with less boominess and with much more clarity and definition. I really love how it sounds.
The piezo for me is useless. Soloed it sounds so low that it's simply unsuable. And mixed it brings a bit more mids to the tone but I like so much how the single coil pickup soloed sounds that I think this will not be used.
Construction wise it's a solid bass. The finish is really well made, the 3 tone sunburst looks great and the hardware, although now premium quality, is solid and gets the job done. The neck is confortable and the action was really low. I had to raise it a bit to be more up to my personal taste and now it's right on spot. The only thing that I don't fancy much on this bass is the unfinished looks of the neck, specially the fretboard. I think I'll try to apply a tru-oil finish on this bass.
It came with roundwounds and I thing that's how I'll keep it. They sound great on this bass even though they aren't new. It'll be good to have a p-bass with rounds available for when needed.
Overall, I'm really pleased with this bass and for 240 euros it sure was a great deal.
