NBD: L2K Walnut Wonder

Day 4 Review:
Really, really impressed so far. The bass is beautiful. The natural walnut body is stunning. I greatly prefer stained bodies like my '98 Cote Continuum. There's an almost organic connection when feeling the grain of a nice chunk of wood in my hands (), and the black hardware is a perfect match.
This bass resonates unlike any other bass I own. Its very alive sounding. BNW always describes their basses as having "a piano like tone", but this one really has that.
The #8 neck is ultra smooth. My left hand glides around on it. Its like this neck was carved specifically for my hands.
Tone-wise, the G&L fans are right, there are lots of options with these L2K/ASAT electronics. They all sound good and my preference over the weekend was both pickups, series, active, tone controls full or nearly full. We recorded this weekend and, compared to the StingRay which sounds great in our rock/funk/blues trio, the L2K has noticeably more body and depth with richer overtones while still maintaining that bite I'm used to with the StingRay.
I've got a really good feeling about this one.

I just bought the sister model L2500 from Atlanta Bass Gallery yesterday. Nicest of the several G&Ls I've owned. Mine is really light as these basses go...only a tad over 8 lbs. In searching for info I've run across a couple of references to a limited run of 25 on these. Not sure of that's 25 basses or 25 instruments though....there are a few pics online of guitars from the same batch.

OMG...

Those are probably the most gorgeous G&L's I've ever seen. I'm a huge G&L fan anyway (those MFD's are in several of my other NON-G&L basses, too) but these walnut ones just KILL me.

Beautiful, elegant and understated. Looks like an adult's bass, no BS. Love it!

I dont really like dark natural basses but that thing is so sweet with the black hardware. Sick man! When you have a chance check out the single coil mod with this guy for an added somewhat cleaner tone option. If you ever decide to quit playing bass I will gladly take this off your hands!!!!!!!!! Have fun brother!
