I haven't posted here on TB for quite a long time and today I received a Made in Japan Fernandes Jazz bass model FJB-96. , I was looking around on Reverb and grabbed it for a great price.
From what I understand from info I found here on TB and other sites, this is a 'Stone Logo' possibly made by Tokai from 1978-81. The bass came in it's original case with a warranty card and the last owner strung it with Labella Flatwounds.
I raised the pickups a small amount, and plugged into my Ampeg SVTII and V4B for some classic tones and I like it a lot, although the thought of replacing the pickups came into mind as I sensed the weak electronics. I am debating getting a set of Fralin or Nordstrand pickups because the bass is really that good otherwise and would be a great player with the right pickups. This is my first MIJ bass, as I mainly play custom basses and G&L basses.

Is that '70s pickup spacing on yours? Also, you mentioned 'weak electronics'; maybe you could keep the stock pickups (since you like the tones) and have the electronics serviced instead?
