NBD: Miami Blue Pro II w pickguard selection

So I picked up a Pro II P-bass. Odd that over all these years / basses that I've never had a "Pro II P". Now what got me here was the color. Pics don't reflect how stunning that that color is live. So I got it. Then the weight / balance .... oh my ..... I've had lighter and heavier. But none with this balance. I can play hands free. I'm starting to get impressed here. The neck is ok - no complaints there. I kinda like the tinting on it. But it came with round wound strings. Uh... No.... flats will be here tomorrow. I tried the rounds. I don't "get it" for a P bass. But the question of the night comes down to pickguards. Thats an odd color to mate with.... or is it?

Original is "ok". But I have these others laying around in the garage. So.....
Mint - Is only slightly darker - slightly better?
Brown tort - While a favorite of mine, it's not working for me here.
Black plate - Uh....... yeah........ maybe.
Gold plate - I've seen this before - its good - dunno

What’s the body thickness like on your Am Pro II? I have an Am Pro II Precision V, it’s a smidge thicker than all my MIM Fender bodies. Not heavy, but visible difference. Extremely even sounding (replaced the V-Mod2 pickup with old American Standard PV pickup ), wonder if the little extra body mass is giving some sonic benefit.

In my opinion, the Hokusai wave was always intended to adorn the Fender Dimension - and the fact that Fender never figured out what he was putting out there, so far in advance, was why the Dimension never landed right.

I think tort look awesome. black not bad either. white looks fine but boring. gold is a little too much and reserved for 50s style Ps.

I like the gold for sure. But then you should replace all the hardware with gold and then use labella gold flats. Would look incredible.

Well thanks for all the inputs. Most were liking the gold and so was I, but Karma stepped in. Come to find out the PG I have is "off" on a few holes, so I didn't want to use it. The MINT one really looked good fully installed. I also chose the FENDER flats primarily because of the thread color. How cheesy is that? Now I have them on a 54 P-bass so I know I like em but the color made them the natural choice (otherwise they'd be Ti flats. But I owe you some BASS PORN, so here tiz. If only that Pro II P came with a painted headstock...... hmmmmmm.....

This is to me the first time I’m confused about which pickguard fits the best because both are very very nice on this bass !

Very nice choice OP!

I wish the Am Pro II models came with painted headstocks too, especially in Miami Blue. But the maple headstock and the maple neck look beautiful together. They look like one continuous piece of wood.

The Fender flats should go well with Fender's stock V Mod II pickups on your bass. The stock pickups had way too much mid lows for me. I replaced them with the EMG Geezer Butler pickups because the EMGs are more tonally balanced. It all depends on what kind of music you plan on playing with your P Bass.
