Certainly not bursting any bubbles, and I appreciate your input, but we’ll just have to agree to disagree. As I said, maybe not a ‘62, but definitely a ‘71 or prior. I’m aware folks still make celluloid guards, but just as you said, the materials on making that- the nitric acid, generally- were not used after the late ‘60s. I have a ‘70 P, ‘72 Jazz, and ‘76 P. The tort pattern/color on the ‘70 P is almost identical to this jazz. You can tell a major difference in materials in the later 70’s guards, just by look and feel. There are also different electrical responses with a vintage nitrate celluloid guard. You’ll come across this when wiring a bass with one, and even with shielding, you usually have to run a wire to the jack ground. Anyhow, no, like I said, it came in a box of hardware and parts I got from a well known tech/luthier who was taking apart guitars long before I was born. Didn’t spend but a couple hundred bucks and got some great parts to use for a few basses
