Get it set up professionally, if the frets need dressing, get that done, get the truss and intonation set up, put on your favorite strings.... I would do all that before replacing the bridge. That bass, perfectly setup should be slamming. Enjoy and play the crap out of it!

Nice! But, you should at least try the flats. I have a Squier vm J V I put D 'Addario chromes on at it really made a difference. I like the way it sounds. But, I will also say I have an American J string with DR Fatbeams that sound great, but different. If you haven't played flats before, the feel may take some getting use to.

Perfect advice the bridge on this bass is as good if not better than the bridges on the lusted after pre CBS basses enjoy a really nice bass I love that color combo.

Does your's have the noiseless pick ups? If so, I've got one just like it. Great bass. No mods needed.
New strings, set 'er up and you're ready to go
Congrats

So, I just bought a Fender Active Jazz Bass Deluxe MIM from a friend, the action is a little high and needs some adjustments here and there but I think I got a pretty decent deal for it (I paid 300 dlls for it) Ive really liked it so far,let me know what you think about these basses!View attachment 599063
Those are really nice, I had the 5 string in sunburst and it was one of the best basses I've ever played - it wasn't the right bass for me, but even still I regret parting with it 'cause it was SWEET and got lots of compliments for sound and looks.
Congrats - and yeah that's a great price - my 5er went for twice that when I sold it.

Awesome man, congratulations! That is one of THE classiest and most beautiful Fender color combos of all time.

I've probably owned three dozen P basses over the years, including some quite valuable and vintage ones.

I got an older MIM Precision earlier this year and it is a fine instrument.

I wish you decades of enjoyment with that gorgeous Jazz!

Incidentally, re: your survey.
I LIKE big butts, but I don't smoke them anymore.

And that's necessary when someone says "look at my new bass" how?
And, unless you've played HIS bass, how do you KNOW you prefer it?
Rude.

It was simply a response to the poll.... I prefer CIJ black and gold to the silver spaghetti :) personal choice.
Its all good. any NBD is a good day :)

Thinking back i did write more, my stupid tablet must have done its usual deletion of half a post when i wasn't looking lol.

Great bass, great price. You done good!
Any money you spend in a setup will be money well spent and that bass should serve you well for years to come.
And if you get bored of it, I'm sure there will be a line out the door to buy it from you, these are great basses for the dough.

Love the poll, too. I can't lie...
