Not sure if this is your first bass or just first Fender. Here's my opinion on what affects the sound of a bass:

The player=90%
Amp & speaker=5%
Strings & pickup(s)=5%
Everything else=<.001% this includes bridge type & material, fingerboard wood type, body wood type, nut, body finish type and color, pickguard material & color (tort rules), tuners, strap buttons, string retainer, neckplate screws, instrument cables, etc.

Once your instrument is set up well, the only thing that will make it play better and sound better to anyone else is you.

There are some threads on here about which basses Paul used on which songs on Abbey Road, a Fender Jazz, a Hofner, or a Ric, 3 basses which can hardly be more different, but I can't tell at all, they all sound like Paul to me.

A year from now, if you still want to change out your bridge, take that money and spend it on lessons, or beer, instead of wasting it on cosmetics.

Ha! Thanks for clarifying...I also thought it was kind of a rude comment, but because I misunderstood YOU. My fault!

I thought you were referring to a black finish with a gold anodized pickguard...not the headstock logo colors, which is what the OP was asking about in the first place!

A new bridge really isn't necessary. Generations of talented players have used that bridge and keeping your first Fender stock for a while is what I'd recommend. A little loctite thread sealer on the saddle height screws helps prevent saddle movement.

Nice bass. I would just clean it up if it needs, set it up with new strings of your choice.
For me, I prefer the tone and feel of Diaddario XL strings.
With a good amp, you will have a great sound with your new bass.
Make sure that the output jack is clean. Enjoy it.
