NBD-My First Fender P! Also a question?

I have been playing bass for a little over 20 years. I have owned more basses than I can keep track of. I have had at least three Fender Jazz basses over the years but never a Fender P. I have owned a couple of SX P basses as well as the current SX P/J in my avatar, but never a good old Fender P bass until now! I picked this up in a trade deal with another TB member and it arrived yesterday! It is a 2003 USA Highway 1 P bass in honey blonde. It already has several nicks and marks in the finish which IMO just give it more character. Played it for quite a while yesterday and am very happy with it.! It is light, comfortable to play and the neck is great! Strung it with a new set of Dunlop Nickel Super Brights last night. Going to take it to a jam this afternoon and hear how it sounds in a band setting.

Nice bass! I've been playing bass for over 40 years and have played mostly jazz or jazz style (Sadowsky and Nordy) basses. A few years ago, I picked up my first Precision and that's all I play now.

Guess I made the right choice! I went to a jam this evening and took my new P bass along. The bassist for the host band was playing a Fender P and the other bass player showed up to jam also brought a nice '71 P bass! So all three of us were rocking our P basses tonight!

I was kinda the opposite of you this weekend. I have 4 Fender P basses, but have never owned a Fender Jazz, until Saturday. Next gig is the 20th of February so I have a little time to tweak it before then.

It appears you have done very well. I voted for both covers myself since it gives a super cool factor.
Perhaps the most important question is........Is it wearing flats? Yes Super Brights are cool , but.....Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Sweet! I voted bridge cover only. I'm not a fan of pickup covers, and it would detract too much from the tort!

I know. I actually have a set of Chromes that I pulled off of my Jazz bass just lying around. I think I will hold off until the new Dunlop flats hit the store though.

Or not I've got Super Bright Nickels on my Precision and there they will stay.

Not a fan of covers, BTW. They get in my way and they look a little too...um...blingy.

Both covers -- and a tugbar! I just played all weekend with two '70s Ps with covers and thumb rests. No problem whatsoever.
