NBD (my first on TB) - Schecter Riot 4

Hi everyone, I’m new to TB, but I like what you have going here! I’m a guitarist/drummer who is converting to bass, and have been really enjoying how different bass is from guitar (both in terms of technique and role). I’ve been learning on a Squier Vintage Modified 70s Jazz, but decided that an upgrade was in order.

I picked up this Schecter Riot 4 used for a very reasonable price, and have loved it so far. The neck is smooth as butter, it’s a nice weight, and the electronics are substantially better than the Squier’s (the EMGs are much more versatile than I expected them to be). It’s comfortable as heck, I’m looking forward to stretching its legs a bit at band practice tonight.

Congrats on your new bass! That's a great choice. I really dig the Riot Session basses, particularly the body shape. I'm biased, since I just picked up a used Riot 5-string coming from a Squier VM Jazz 5. So glad I got it. B-string on it is fantastic and it just blows away the Squier. Enjoy it!

Those are some really slept-on basses. I've played around with a few of them in different stores, and they're consistently well balanced and easy to play. Sound good and have pretty versatile electronics. Plus, I think the way they did the inlays is cool. Your specific instrument has the nicest looking grain I've seen on one of these models, though. Nice score.

Hey thanks guys. 6 months later and I'm still really happy with it, and it gets played every day. Our new-ish band has played 5 gigs so far, with more lined up after the holidays. I still play my Squier now and then, but the Schecter gets most of my time.

@HELLonWHEELS, I haven't seen colors other than natural grain, but I haven't done too much research on it. I just tried this one on a whim in the store, and knew right away that it was a good fit for me.
