Hello Everyone,

I'm a guitar player who never picked up a bass. I got a little miffed and a lot motivated when I could not find a bass player to work on some jazz songs I am learning on guitar. A few months ago I said to my fiance in jest, that I will just buy a bass and learn it myself.

Last week a Rickenbacker popped up in my ebay feed. And it was Midnight Blue, I have a thing for blue guitars and probably bid too much. Although, I had little idea of what they go for. I was surprised when I won it and here it is - a 2016 4003s

A dazzling first bass! Congrats! (Also, in my opinion, the best Rickenbacker out there.)

Beautiful instrument -- congratulations! I'm a guitarist who switched to bass and I wouldn't want to go back. As others have said, a Rickenbacker 4003S is a heck of a great first bass.

Pretty bass!

I had a Midnight Blue jazz bass, and got into perpetual arguments with people who said it looked purple - which it did if the light was right.

Problem is, due to my college affiliation, I do not own purple objects. I got tired of the arguments and sold the bass, which was a good one.

Wow! Nice first bass. My first was a well-used late '60s Crucianelli. A Ric 4001 as my third bass bought new in '74 (I think). Still have it.
