Well I broke down and bought a short scale bass.The only bass I have is a Jay Turser 54 reissue(8 electrics 1 acoustic).After owning a SX short scale I missed the ease of play of a SS.I would have bought another SX but was looking for a little better quality.The thing I didn't like about the SX was the smaller body and being neck heavy.I purchased a Eastwood MAP and I am absolutely beside myself

I do have a few questions that I am hoping you can help me with.

(1) The factory strings are D'Adarios roundwounds and I was thinking about putting some Chromes on it.The length from the ball to the top wrap is about 34 1/2 to 34 3/8 is this a short or medium scale length for D'Adario????? (other suggestions for strings)

(2) Does anyone other than Rondo make a short scale bass case???The Eastwood case is $125 and is a one size fits all.
The SS Rondo is to small. I am thinking I will need a full size case anyway 44" long x 14" wide x 20 1/2 body length.

(3) I play with a pick and getting much better with my fingers.
When I play with my fingers instead of using my middle and index fingers, I feel more comfortable and play better using my thumb and index finger.Is this a NO NO????Am I developing a bad habit,should I just bare and grin and use strictly my fingers????

Here's my take.

(1) Best answered by D'Adario or other string manufacturer.

(2) You might try Danelectro. The Longhorn is a short-scale.

(3) There are no NO NOs in playing style. Whatever works for
you is fine.

The porn is real cool. I have an Eastwood Rocket from about 6 years ago and like it pretty good.

Keep on thumpin and enjoy your new bass.

Your Eastwood Airline Map bass is a short scale, 30.5". A set of 34" strings should be long enough to wrap around the tuning pegs a few times.

As for a case, you may be able to fit the bass into a guitar case. It depends on how long the bass is from top of headstock to strap pin on the bottom. I use a Mono guitar case for my Birdsong short scale bass.

I did find the answer to my question about the strings on the D'Addario web site.It appears that they are a D'Addario medium from they way I interpret their calculations.Here is their link.

Kevin,I have been watching this bass for a long time.They sell most places for $799.This was too much for me to spend I thought on this guitar.Eastwood followed in Fender's footsteps and raised their prices about $200.I could be wrong but it seemed like they used to sell for a lot less.This one was listed on Ebay and disappeared for more than I wanted to pay.It reappeared for less money and best offer.I picked it up for $475 and $30 for shipping.

On the case deal - if the bass fits good except for length, you can do as I do, get some dense foam and fill the void by just laying it between the end of the bass and the end of the case. Movement should be very limited, particularly with a tight fit on the top of the case.
