NBD: Never been amazed like this

Just received a Mayones Patriot 5 string. I don't normally do "new bass day" postings but I'm simply amazed. If you know me you know I've owned a lot of really great basses. This Mayones seriously impresses. I'm really surprised by this thing. The finish is exquisite and quality is superb. This is seriously in my top 5 list. Maybe top 3 of best basses I've ever owned or played. The ergonomics have got to be near perfect for me. Neck is killer. Man these pictures probably don't do it justice.

If you are looking at MTD but want 34" you should check these out. Actually this thing takes the cake over any MTD I've laid hands on and I've owned 5 now (including a 534). Has sort of a Warwick vibe going on too with the wenge neck and dual bridge. Aguilar OBP-3 in this one with tone control and DCB pickups. Serious full punch machine.

Flame maple over ash body. Wenge and padouk neck with rosewood fingerboard. Matching headstock.

I had a great experience with Red Dragon Guitars of North Carolina and had a fantastic experience. I highly recommend that shop.

If you've considered a Mayones I say go for it. These are awesome! Here's some eye candy.

Another Mayones found its way to me. This time a Prestige. Here's one pic, more later on in the thread.

Those are two stunningly good looking basses!

Both are great basses. I love aspects of each. These are fantastic instruments. Some of the easiest to play. Incredible necks. The feel of wenge a lot like Warwick without the baseball bat mass. Quick and fast necks. They balance so well making the necks seem like they are barely there. No need to hold up the neck. You just play it and move up and down with ease.

Love the look of both of em, though I like the shape of the blue better. Even though I'm a big offset fan, I like the upper horn and more modest offset of the blue.

I thought I was going to much prefer the Patriot shape... and I think I do prefer it. But man, the Prestige sits nicely on a strap. They both are in the top 3 of best balancing and feeling basses I've ever played. Very impressed.

@scubaduba

For the last 2.5 years I have bought and sold countless basses looking for the perfect fit bass wise. I've found that with Warrior basses. They sound and feel far supperior to anything that's ever been in my hands. It's a great feeling.

Put some DR Fatbeams on the Prestige this weekend and once again I'm reminded how much I love those strings. Mayones ships with SIT nickels which are real nice but they don't have anything on Fatbeams. The Prestige is even more punchy now and more growly.

I might try a set of Pedulla stainless steel strings on the Patriot. Those are my other favorite strings. :D

Played the Prestige in a 2000 seat church venue this morning and was pleased with the feel, balance and sound. Two services with 40 minutes sets and no fatigue. The Prestige is sort of reminiscent of a Jazz bass the way it hangs and balances. But much thinner body and the sightly concave body (a bit like Spector) makes for better ergonomics (and a much better look IMHO).
