I actually dig guards on Laklands. I wouldn't screw it in - just double stick it so I can change it up when I want.

There's nothing wrong with the Barts in the -01 series basses. My 44-01 from 2007 is my main player... it kills basses twice (or more) its price. A nice blend of modern punch and vintage color, even with the supposedly 'inferior' MK-1 electronics. I have 4 -01 series basses... none are inferior in my eyes... and I own a 44-02 as well!

Yeah, I'm really diggin' this one. Been playing it a lot today, and I'm sure it will get a lot of gig time in the future. I definitely agree about the tone....modern punch and vintage color. Plays great too...really smooth with the Chromes.

Barts and flats go together well! That shiny bass makes a nice contrast to the nicely 'reliced' fence. Good job, it looks pretty authentic

Oh, forgot to mention - this is one of the Korean made Skylines - but I got it new at Bass Emporium. I've been looking at it a while, and I guess people just don't dig the natural finished ash ones - dunno, maybe it's the RW board too. Not sure why it sat there, because it's a great bass.

I'm generally not a fan of rosewood, but that one would have never even gotten a second look.

It would have been in the back seat of my car after the first one...

Man, doing that relic job on the fence was a total PITA !

Years of research, countless slats of wood sacrificed, thousands of headaches, etc ... I must have thought of quitting "Fencequest" a hundred times. Thank God I persevered !

I've been playing this bass a LOT over the past couple days - verdict : I like it a lot ! It won't replace my vintage Fenders for "everything", but it WILL be getting a lot of "live" work. It has a very nice punchy sound that still doesn't stray too far from vintage tones when run flat. It really is a joy to play.

I might get a guard in the future, but I'm not worrying about it right now - the wood grain on this one is very, very nice !
