NBD - Ovation Magnum I

I got this bad mother off craigslist earlier this week. She sounds sweet! I'm really loving the bass off the neck pickup, and the bridge pickup makes me actually want to play it (I usually dislike the trebly / "thin" sound of bridge pickups on basses).

Apologies for the lack of good pictures. I don't have a camera or even a camera phone, so a friend took this one for me.

I haven't weighed her, but it's somewhere in the range of "freakin heavy" to "she's a brick house".

Congratulations! I had the Magnum II, heaviest bass I ever owned but it brought a smile to everyone's face each time I opened the case.

Great basses. I have a Magnum I that's about 10 lbs and a Magnum III that's off the charts heavy. I love that neck pick-up though and the mutes on the M I are pretty useful too.

I have a similar Magnum I and it weighs 9.6 pounds. I guess that's on the light side for these.

The big full sound of the bridge pickup surprised me too, given its position and all.
