NBD : Peavey "Stealth" Fury

This came today. It's a MIA Peavey Fury. Factory black painted fretboard, neck, and headstock. Pickup upgraded to a Bartolini Hi-A pickup (passive). Factory black bridge and tuners. Strung with black tapewounds.

I haven't gotten to really explore its sound yet, but the feel is great! It has the lowest action of any bass I own. Even lower than my EBMM Sterling 5H and my G&L SB-2, both of which were recently Pleked and setup by Gary Brawer, in San Francisco, and both of which have great action of their own. The Fury was setup by the guy I bought it from, Timmy, aka MNAirHead on here.

Thanks, all! I haven't really gotten to play it plugged in yet. I'll have to report back later on the sound. If I'm lucky, I'll find my digital recorder and I'll record it going through my vintage SVT / Bergantino NV610 rig, so you can form your own opinions.

Yes, I am. And that's a great idea. Too bad I don't have the '66 P any more...

Basically, yes. That and I needed money to pay for my recent move. I would have liked to keep them both, even though I pretty much always played the SB-2 over the Fender. The P was made the year I was born, which is the main reason I bought it in the first place.

Now, my EBMM Sterling 5H has kicked everything else to the bench and I'm done even looking at other basses. The only reason I got this Fury is that I committed to buy it from a friend about 10 months ago. And I wanted to have a good "beater" bass.

that is definately a good beater bass. my '90 foundation has proven to be pretty solid. those old peavey's, assuming they haven't been abused, are great buys for the money.

The trick to getting these old USA made Peaveys with such low action is the neck tilt adjustment and taking your time. That and a lot of experience setting them up helps too.

Great bass. I hope to find one on the cheap someday.

Nice bass you got.

I got one of those. I have put black hardware on
it, but it still has the stock white PG.

I have a Fender Original 62 pickup in mine and it
sounds really good.

You could tell people Peavey made a few prototypes with a graphite neck and you were lucky enough to end up with one!
