Not a J and with rosewood neck, but consider the look of the one on the right. Mirror pick guard, pretty slick. Too bad the thing weighs like 11 lbs.

I vote naked, no guard with the chrome control plate. Use a sharpie to color the holes. The route is so clean on yours, I think you can go either way. (Mine's obviously not a J bass, but a Fender CS '54 style P.)

Congrats on your NBD! Looks killer without the guard, but with the black guard too.

Your CS '54 P really looks like an early G&L w/o the PG...

I'd go with a 'guard.

With the chrome controlplate I'd go with either BWB or black pearl 'guard with black screws on the 'guard and chrome screws on the controlplate. I'd probably go with a black bridge as well.

With a black control plate I'd go with a shiny solid black 'guard and all black screws plus a black output jack and definitely a black bridge.

I prefer a rosewood or ebony fingerboard to the maple. A matching black headstock with black tuners is a plus for me.
