NBD, rare G&L content!

[Aspidites]

1992 G&L L5000, one of approximately 400 made. The only one I have ever seen in Sparkle Purple. The pictures do not do it justice in any way.

The Z coil MFD is a monster, loud, aggressive, bright and the B is simply thunderous.

There are a couple very shallow dimples on the front with a couple larger ones and some scratches on the back. The neck is immaculate.

Oh and I forgot to add that it comes in at a svelte 8 lbs.

There's a store downtown in my city that has one of those in a natural gloss finish with a black pickguard. It's pretty awesome, but nobody ever buys it, cause G&L isn't really that known in this country... :/

I have to be honest, I'm not crazy about the color but then again, I am very conservative when it comes to basses. I prefer a nice Fender sunburst over a metallic color. Maybe it's the fact that I am 50 years old. I had forgotten about G & L until recently. They make some great basses. I played one at a local store and was very impressed. I'm sure you will be very happy with it.

I was so tempted to track one of these down and buy it. I have an SB-2 and love the tone.

I would love to know how you feel about the string spacing. I never use a pick. Ultimately I decided against buying an L-5000 sight unseen because they look like the strings are too tight for my preferences.

I haven't seen one of these in forever, and never a purple one. A fellow bassist at my old church had one and I remember the neck feeling just right at home. Always wondered what model it was until now.

Love it, including the color. Just awesome in every way. I've thought about hunting for one of those myself. Due to a finger joint problem, I have to play with a pick, so I'd be down with that narrow string spacing. I really wish G&L would do a modern version based on the SB-1. Let's call it the SB-15. I'd probably sell my Fender P to get one.
