That is awesome! The Koa is beautiful, but to my eye the white makes the shape of the bass pop out more. Congratulations!

The white one has sharper more defined lines, being that they are hand made they are all a little different

Super cool. I remember when the BC Rich basses were all the rage back in the early 80s, but I don't remember the Wave. Congratulations on your find!

Estimated that about 240 Waves (guitars and basses) were made from their inception in 1981 until 1985 ,BCR moved away from their neck thru heritage and went to bolt ons and stuff that catered to the hair metal crowd , so yeah maybe a hundred or so spread out over planet earth isn't many

The white one was originally sold in Germany and the koa/maple went to Japan

How about mine? Any thoughts? Serial 88179, so a bit after ‘85, I suppose.

Was chasing this one for a decade, finally twisted my buddy's arm hard enough

1981 USA Wave, one of the first made, marked proto in the pickup cavity , had no idea when I bought it but it's a 32" scale where as almost every other BCR is 34" and most Bich basses are 30.5"

Koa wings, maple neck

These things are unobtanium, there's a total of 18 Wave basses from the golden era of BCR (1981 when the Wave was introduced until 1985) documented in the serial archives. Sure to be more out there but not many

Man, I never saw one of these in the wild in all my years in the biz. However, I did own a maple Eagle for a hot minute in the mid-80's.

Some beautiful instruments there. My favourite shape has always been the wave. Not jealous at all
I’ve been searching for a wave and a nice eagle since 1988. They appear so rarely this side of the pond sadly
