NBD: Reverend Rumblefish R5L (used)

Curious about the slab nature of Reverends. Are they using Danelectro type construction methods?.
Not entirely dissimilar to Danelectro, but somehow more sturdy feeling without being overly heavy. But has a bit of that same semi-hollow / chambered / resonant thing going on. Kinda like the heavy-duty industrial version of Dano. Ever so much more so. ;)

Always loved the Reverands when I first joined TB and everyone was loving them. Never seen one this side of the pond tho. Sad to hear the factory closed, I did wonder what happened to them after my hiatus...

I love a blue bass and this is awesome! @bholder has a nice collection too... :bassist:

Not sure if you knew, but they're still around. They just moved production overseas to keep prices down. They still make a great product IMO, and each one goes through their US shop for set up and QC check. They have a Mike Watt signature...it's amazing.

As I mention pretty much once a week, my Thundergun is right up there with my G&L L2000.
Fit and finish, playability, killer tone...and the new Blackwood Tek fretboards are amazing.

The outside rim or edge was injection molded plastic.Top was formica,my guitar was textured formica called "sparkle".Then they started to use all diff. kinds of tops.revfan.com has the most info on reverend usa guitars and basses.Well worth the time to go look around huis site.
Reverend Fanatic
I kinda got the impression that there was Formica going on there, but didn’t want to use the F word in case it wasn’t and people got cheesed at me.

They are rather addictive, aren't they? ;)

SERIOUSLY! Lol ... Up until two weeks ago, I hated 5-string basses, but the R5L ... I just connect with these things. I have to say I'm very grateful to the seller. He told me he wasn't planning on selling the other until he knew how much I liked the first one. Great guy. Got both via trades and only a little bit of cash. I'm a bit giddy at the moment :)

Pity there will never be any more of them, most excellent basses.

It's a US-made Reverend R5L (Rumblefish) from near the end of their run I think.
Only 289 R5Ls were made from 1999 to 2006. Only 4 ever in this finish (Bluewood). Two of those are known to have been "parted out", making this one of two of a kind.

Hey all- I just picked up a long lost Rumblefish 5L in Bluewood, and in looking at the faux woodgrain in these old posts, it appears that this one may be one of the 4 Bluewoods thought to have been parted out? This one is mint, not a screw turned or a mark anywhere. Also scored a Rumblefish 4 at the same time, Now "Jack" the Dub King has some new buddies! Obligatory family photos:
