He absolutely did. He knows my sickness!Your friend knew what he was doing when he asked you to sell that for him![]()
that's the ticket! and it was delivered to you by a friend --- it's a beauty, glad it's working for you --- congratulations on your new instrument! It’s such a great player. I can’t put it down.
I absolutely love it. Had my headphones on again earlier and noodled around some more. This is a keeper!Nice, now you're the proud owner of one of the all-time classics, maybe even a candidate for the GOAT.
And you got one of the coolest finishes, too!![]()
Why give people what they want?! Instead, let’s do another Jazz Bass variant! Why Fender stopped making them, I'll never know. Great basses and those pickups are special!
This one ain’t going anywhere! Those are awesome. So fun that you got one, a bass you will treasure. Hold on to it.
I’ve found the American P’s and J’s between 2012-2016 or so are fantastic. I’ve had a few of those examples that were fantastic!Congrats! I’ve always thought that the Roscoe Beck and Victor Bailey sigs are the best basses Fender ever made besides (pick you favorite year) a few choice vintage P/Js I’ve played.
If I’m not mistaken (and I usually am!), there are two Roscoe’s in the classifieds!Having a Marcus Miller and a Tony Franklin (I'm not about signatures, it just played out like this) it would only make sense for me to add a Roscoe Beck (and Victor Bailey) bass to my collection, tooAll I gotta do is find em!
Throw both pickups into single coil mode and listen to how genius Bill Lawrence was to make a five-string Jazz pickup get that close to a vintage four. Both in humbucking is obviously huskier, but this is just one example of the many huge contributions BL made to guitar and bass pickups. It's a shame that Bill's company can't sell these, bound to an exclusive agreement with FMIC. Maybe one day . . .Thank you for the history on it! I knew of the man himself as a bassist, but not the story behind the instrument.
It’s such a great player. I can’t put it down.
It’s weird to me. I’ve had weird experiences with low B strings. They seemed floppy to me with 80’s and early 90’s basses. Then, they got better by the late 90’s. For whatever horrible reason, they felt like they got floppy again in the 2000’s. Total regression. This is based on my experiences alone, but that’s what I felt.Congrats! I normally despise Fender 5s (wobbly B string), but I keep hearing these Roscoe Becks are great. What would you compare the neck to? Is it chunky front to back? I know its 19mm bridge spacing, which i prefer. I might have to scoop one up...
I have not tried a G&L. That is the one Leo Fender invention I haven’t played or owned.Did you tried G&L L-2500, can you do a comparison ?!
I was close to byu one, but back then I wasn't on 5-string basses, I wanted a four stringer, but they were very rare here in Balkan !
I can only speak for this one in particular, but I love it. Play one if you get the chance!Wow! I've never even seen one in person, but have always been curious about them. They seem like a bass I'd really like.
Congrats!![]()
I saw one of those Dimensions for sale locally. Wanted to check it out, but it sold. Maybe one day. When Fender came out with the Dimension series, I saw a few similarities in the design to the Roscoe Beck. I was hoping they would have been a success, but apparently not.
I had the metallic green Roscoe Beck. Great bass, but I could never get the neck to straighten out enough for me.
That’s a great endorsement. I’m thinking this will supplant my Stingray as my #1.It took years for me to find one. I got my CAR Roscoe Beck V about 15 or so years ago. It has become my main gigging axe. It even supplanted my ‘65 Jazz, which, of course, I still love. Play it!
I always wondered why another company didn't license those pickups, so many great tones available on a passive bass. My only problem with mine is the body weight for live work.Throw both pickups into single coil mode and listen to how genius Bill Lawrence was to make a five-string Jazz pickup get that close to a vintage four. Both in humbucking is obviously huskier, but this is just one example of the many huge contributions BL made to guitar and bass pickups. I’m the “newbie” of bassists in this area. We are a small, but tight group. We cover for each other when we’re able to. Considering all of the groups and five bassists carry all of the bands! Not really 5, but you get the point.that's the ticket! and it was delivered to you by a friend --- it's a beauty, glad it's working for you --- congratulations on your new instrument!![]()
I can tell it’s built well. It should hold up to my gigging schedule!I exclusively played one that looked like yours for a few years throughout the 2000's. It's a great, bullet-proof bass. RB and Bill Lawrence knew their stuff!
Doing this once the newborn wakes up!Throw both pickups into single coil mode and listen to how genius Bill Lawrence was to make a five-string Jazz pickup get that close to a vintage four.
