NBD? school me plz

I am about to pull the trigger on this baby. Thing is, I am not so "schooled" on Sterling/EBMM as I am, for example, on Squier/Fender. Surely it looks gorgeous. What about build quality, reliability, and such? I still think that for 400€ it's worth it. In the worst case it will remain on display in my living room lol

I thought the Sub Series SBMM cost less than this?

400 lb. = $556
Pretty steep for a SBMM Sub Series

$349 = 251 lb

These are amazing basses in all important aspects to me: sound, playability, build quality and looks. I never regretted buying mine (4 str model) last year, actually looking to get a 2nd one.

Yours doesn’t appear to be a sub series

I found them to be a good value for the money when I was shopping for 5 strings, but they didn’t quite have the “something” I was looking for (personal taste of course).

I wound up coughing up $500 USD for a used but practically mint L2500 tribute. I was actually considering spending around twice that but I cannot justify it now, this thing has everything I was looking for and didn’t know how to find.

definitely see if you can get your hands on one to try. I was doing the same and an L2500 happened to be on the rack next to the ray. Tried it just due to all the good pies they get around here and man, every bit of it is deserving. Might splurge on something wild like a status or modulus one day but for practical purposes I am covered.

It’s entry-level, but the Sub series is good quality, and a lot of bass for the money. If you like it, go for it.

I got it for 345 euros shipped in the end.

Take note that in italy the price for imported goods is usually converted this way: take the "$" symbol off, put the "€" one, and possibly raise it a little bit (or an awful lot, it depends) If it costs 349 $ chances are you won't find it here for less than 399 € LOL

Taxes taxes taxes they say

I will admit what sparked my interest at first was a video made by one of my wife's guitarist where he was playing a bass line for one of their new songs, I really liked how it sounded, it was the very same model. In all honesty I was more intrigued by a G&L Kiloton but the demos I found on YT didn't convince me. Also, I didn't want to go spend much as in our intentions it was only going to be a "studio bass" (is this blasphemy?). I saw this and a blackburst burl top one with matching headstock which was even more gorgeous but would come from overseas and the shipping costs would have doubled the final price (not to take import taxes into account!). This one was so beautiful my first (and only!) thought in the end was "well, if it sounds like s--t at least it looks beautiful" LOL
We're not really after that Stingray sound for a need, wife's got a AM Std Precision which sounds glorious and has become her one-and-only bass despite having 4 'cause it is just so perfect, but this Sterling might still come in handy in the studio to give a different flavor to some tracks. Then who knows, maybe it sounds so good she will end up carrying both around!

I first mistakenly compared dollars to pounds

Euro to dollars is currently $1.21 to 1 E
So
$349 = 288 E

349 E = $422

Looks to me you over payed, but as you said taxes, taxes, taxes.
