NBD: Sire M5 Transparent Blue Satin - 5 String

Hey everyone!

My brand new Sire M5 arrived at my door today, and boy is she a looker! When I saw the transparent blue finish I knew I had to have it.

I was a bit leery ordering from Thomann, because I've never heard of them before. However, after looking into them, I gave it a shot. I mean, if you could save yourself $200+ on the same instrument, it's a risk worth taking..

Wow! This is probably the lightest bass I've ever held! Has to weigh maybe 8lbs.

When I first plugged it into my amp, I was concerned as there was no output in active mode. Changed the batteries that were in there for some fresh Duracells, and this bass sings!

I'm assuming it was shipped with dummy batteries because it was an international shipment?

Regardless, I love the weight and feel of this instrument, could use a setup eventually, but it plays great.

Definitely a nice compliment to my V7.

I know this thread is almost a year old, but congrats on the new bass. Do you still own and love it?

I've been looking into the same model, which was on backorder (for a lefty) everywhere, but now Thomann has them.

One thing I'm worried about is I've heard a few reports of these having "fret sprout". I know apparently this can happen to any bass, and it's fixable. But I'm wondering if Sires are more prone to it.

I do still own out and I love playing it. Gig duties have been split between the two.

I haven't noticed any fret sprout, but my luthier hasn't checked it yet I need to get it in for a setup at some point.
