NBD-Squier Sq Precision, thoughts on re-fret?

Recently picked up an ‘83-‘84 Squier MIJ Precision for a good price, knowing it needed some attention. After a thorough cleaning, some light fret dressing and nut filing, it plays wonderfully. I put some seasoned flats on it and at first, I fell in love with it, convinced myself it was my forever bass…but now a few days later I’m realizing I don’t actually play as well on it and I’m not crazy about playing it. The sound is fantastic, I really like the neck profile, just a hair bigger than most others but not baseball-bat huge. I just don’t love playing it. I’ve been thinking about subtle changes I could make to maybe like it more and nothing really came to mind…until I realized how tiny the frets were and that most of the other precisions I like have medium jumbo frets. My question is, should I have it re-fretted with larger frets or let it go and continue the search for my forever P?

Refretting is expensive and must be done right. If you're sure what bothers you is the frets and the rest of the neck is unparalleled and you can't live without it, find a competent tech.
Otherwise necks are easy to come by.

If I were you I'd give myself some time to get accustomed to this neck or really find out what the problem is. Just because the frets are different doesn't mean they are the cause of your issues.

The Japanese Squier basses of that era are super high quality and built to last forever.

If the truss rod nut is working fine and you don’t mind changing the bone nut, I would go ahead with bigger frets if you know a good luthier that can do it. Make sure it will be a keeper for you though as there is a cost associated to this and you might not be able to cover it if you decide to sell it later on.
