NBD SS GRETSCH TORINO GREEN

It’s here and Wow!! Can’t recommend this beautiful bass enough! It should cost twice what I bought it for. Impeccable build quality great sound and playability. If you are thinking about a SS I would certainly consider this one it’s beautiful! Lowest action on any bass I’ve owned. Gretsch really had it packed for safety and shipping. I’ve been playing bass since 1962 and acquired over 700 basses in that half a century! So I know what works for me. YMMV. Couldn’t be happier. :)View attachment 4883380 View attachment 4883381
I was torn between that color and the shell pink that I decided on because I'd always wanted a pink bass since seeing Robin Zander sport a pink strat type years ago and thinking how cool it looked. This is a very good bass. Plays smoothly and though I gladly accepted the free swag Fender offered due to the pickup controversy I love the sound these singles put out.I notoriously upgrade pups in cheap basses but these just sound so good imo I left them alone. My only upgrade was a 6 position versitone in lieu of the tone control knob.Have fun!

Totally agree!! Thanks!

Good looking bass - I got the same model in a Tobacco burst colour. It is a great bass, the pickups are quite loud, the neck is comfortable, string spacing generous.

I love the look of those and they are very well made for the price.
The fact that you have a HUGE number of basses you've played to compare it to and rate it so highly (despite it costing so little) says a lot.

My only issue is the pickups. Putting in two of the exact same single coil pickups without one being RWRP is a very weird choice. In saying that, they do sound very good when the neck pickup is solo'd.

My preference is when switch in the middle with both pickups selected. A pro might be able to chime in on how to best describe the sound.

Definitely a fun bass to play.

So I figured with 2 single coils it would sound like a short scale jazz bass. But are you saying these single coils are not wired to cancel hum when run with both fully on? My music room is pretty noisy for singles so I really need that cancellation with dual singles.

They are not wired to cancel hum. There is a long thread here about the hum some of these basses could exhibit.

Has Gretsch been lying to us for over a decade?

and…

Update to the G2220 saga
