I'm really in love with the maple neck w/darker headstock for some reason. It's very aesthetically pleasing. If I do another parts build I'm all over that neck.

Yeah, in a subtle way it keeps drawing my eye back to it, also making me enjoy the large logo decal. Very cool detail.

I had one of the earlier Steve Harris Sigs . The one with the wine red mirror pickgaurd and black knobs? It was crafted in Japan. I never really got along with it. I sooooo wanted one of the more recent sparkle blue one! They got the color right, the pickup everything! But I hesitated and they are all gone.

Thanks. I’m looking forward to see how it settles in. But I’m pretty adaptable with basses and tend to like basses with a little more heft. And yeah, I like the blue sparkle models but they are hard to come by. I read up on this one and just felt like it would be my style.

One last time, folks. Look at the bottle size. Those are the pints and half pints, not the fifths. A fifth of Woodford Reserve runs about $38.

Love the bridge! Also, the pickup appears to be good quality. Looks like a winner to me! I use a Walker & Williams 4 inch strap on my heavy mid-70's maple Jazz bass, which has saved my shoulder much pain.

So I’m not fond of flats and I’m assuming that the nut on this bass is cut to accommodate SH77’s (50-110 flats). Would I be okay putting a set of 45-105 on it or should I look for rounds that are 50-110?

I don't think a lighter gauge is a problem. I have the second version, which came strung with Steve's signature heavy-gauge strings, and immediately swapped them for a light 40-100 ser. It needed a truss rod adjustment afterward, but after a year no problems whatsoever.

Are you sure those are 50-110's currently on the bass?
That is not the case according to the Fender website (which is, granted, often incorrect about such details).

Actually, no, they are not. Just took a good look at them and even though they are dead rounds they feel like a 45-105 gauge (educated guess as this is what I normally play). So I’ll go with that on the setup. Thanks.

45-105 nickel wrapped steel, according to Fender.
So if there are flats on your bass, they would be aftermarket, and not necessarily 110s.

That's my favorite SH sig. Great bass. I didn't know it was all maple. Sweet. The mirrored pickguard is insanely cool.

I'm a Reds supporter, so, after yesterday's embarrassing performance, I'll keep my mouth shut about football.

Aren't all the Fender nuts, even those labelled as "bone," in actuality "synthetic bone," i.e., plastic?

Are they? I actually don't know. I'd assume (but we know what assuming does) that they'd be consistent, then, with their marketing and call it a synthetic bone nut. I'm far from Fender- knowledgeable though.

I had a plastic nut that I replaced after using SS rounds. The thing looked like a bunch of rats had gnawed it to death.
