I recently purchased the charcoal special. It actually changes color under the lights so it's a different bass for each performance! I have a Ric and both flavors of Fender but the Stingray Special is my favorite.

I've had a P for 30 years and an EBMM Sterling for 25. Everything else was eventually sold off. My J may follow suit one day...

It's super light and doesn't dive when seated. Never had a bass that didn't dive!.
But the other used sales ok TB state more. 8lbs 2 oz. Either way it's light as hell. Makes my P feel super heavy, which is making me consider another upgrade in that area. I was told my P was 8 4/3 pounds but it seems over 9 compared to this.
Yea the neck plays itself. Almost like playing a touch-screen bass with the action this low lol. Hard to describe lol. You barely have to press the strings at all and the note is always perfect without buzz.
different EQ, different preamp, much lighter, roasted maple neck, different bridge and tuners, a lot actually.

So, you like the Special more than the regular StingRay? I’m itching to test one out.
Absolutely beautiful bass there, love the finish and colours. You got a keeper, that’s for sure.

This finish screams black pickguard. White cheapens the bass. Congrats!
Beautiful! Love the ash body and the finish on it. I also agree that the change to the white pickguard was a good idea (and that's coming from a HUGE tort fan!

Completely disagree, the white looks awesome. Like vintage Bernard Edwards or Louis Johnson.
That's a rare bird, and attractive, too, you couldn't have done much better. Nice going!!
