NBD: surprisingly impressed!

Ibanez make some seriously good basses.
I got my SR1200 second hand simply because I wanted to try an active bass. I don't particularly like the look of it (natural finish with gold hardware) but it is so good it has become my #1. The balance, playability and sound are just brilliant. Even their entry level basses are good.

Very curious about the bridge saddles. Studying your pic, each saddle is maxed-out at the top of each individual string-unit. Is it properly intoned? If so, I'm guessing that would mean Ibanez staggers the string units in the exact placement to allow proper string to string intonement. (?) I've never intoned a slant-fret bass before - but on any standard bass this wouldn't be done. As in, there would be north-south saddle play on the bridge units placement to allow for fine-intoning different strings. Just curious - I'm sure it's a very nice bass.

I’ll have to put that to the test with a tuner and really see if it’s spot on. I can tell you that nothing sounds off in any way so I didn’t even think to check the intonation.
