Two things I don’t do is put flats on my jazzes or play with a pick lol. All the love to anyone who does though, just not for me.

I’m a flats on fretted, roundwounds on fretless kinda guy, and always with a pick… love gold hardware… the flaming chihuahua gold neck plate is also a must have.

I have a plethora of Warmoth necks, both treble and bass, but I haven’t had them make me a body yet. That’s a great choice for a body.

You should try out flats at some point. Flats played with a pick would sound really nice.

This is amazing!!! Gorgeous build! Very thoughtful choices as it all goes so well together. Love the binding! I'm not a gold hardware fan but it is perfect on this.

Did Warmoth do all the routs, including the bridge pickup? I'm curious because I had wanted to do this originally with single-coil P pickups and later also with TV Jones but I didn't think Warmoth would do customs like this. I was only thinking of one f-hole, but the dual f-holes are perfect!

So, you all have been dying to know what would become of 2021’s most famous bass neck. Well after 10 months from design to finish, the dream bass I was building (or assembling if your one of those gatekeepers) for my birthday is finally complete. Here’s the deets:

-Warmoth was nice enough to build me their Mooncaster bass body (usually a short scale) adapted for a 34” scale. Swamp Ash body with a AAAAA flame maple top. This is what they call a Black-Brown-Yellow burst with a clear gloss. Cream binding.
-TvJones Thunder’Tron pickups.
-Hipshot D bridge
-QParts knobs
-I usually go CTS, but my supplier was having issues, so I tried Bourns. Definitely different than I’m used to, but I see why people like them. Sprague orange drop caps, Swithcraft toggle and input Jack. All cloth wiring.
-Warmoth also made the neck. We’ll call it AAA flame roasted maple in a reverse Tele style. Cream binding. Jazz width at the nut. Clear gloss coat. Ebony board, Gold Pearl inlays. Hipshot tuners.

Oh yeah, and in case anyone was wondering, it plays and sounds just as good as it looks!

As a Partscaster builder myself, don't sell yourself short. To anyone who thinks its just as simple as attaching part A and Part B to Part C, go ahead and try it.

People pay a lot of money for things from "custom shops", yet a Warmoth build (I do my own finishes) entails the same (sometimes more) work steps. So, either it's OK to "build" a Warmoth, or we need to start calling everything that Fender makes (custom shop or assembly line) a "partscaster".

Since you got F-holes in the body, I reckon you ought to post a photo or two of your bass in this thread, too: F-holes: decals and in semi-hollow bodies

Very nice. It may be assembled but you had the aesthetic vision which is very original. I like TV Jones and filtertron for guitar and good decision on using Bourns -

2 things I don't dig usually are hollow body basses and reverse headstocks but you executed that design properly that it just works and flows.

And the two volume two tone just like Gibson - I have been thinking of something like that as well on bass because I do have a Les Paul 1969. I am guessing tone-wise with the filtertron, this is going to be versatile.

I’m not sure about a headstock decal yet. I’ve honestly never liked blank headstocks, but it’s growing on me. I’ve drawn up some designs, but nothing that has made me jump to put it on the bass.

It’s an inexpensive piece off fleabay. Not bad quality though. They had a few varieties. I went with the Tiger to match all the “stripes” from the flame.
