That is one sweet unit you put together! The color/wood/hardware is very sexy. Sound wise what does it remind you of?

Thank you! I’m going to try and record some sound samples for everyone this week to better answer that question. With the 2V2T and toggle setup, I’ve been able to get a plethora of sounds out of it in various settings.

As much trouble as Warmoth go to on their website to ensure that we know this body is designed for short and medium scale necks, I'm really surprised they built it for you in a 34" scale version. I know they're flexible beyond options on the website, but I've never heard anything like that about a Warmoth order. Very cool! I like the aesthetic, I think you succeeded in not making overly gaudy or unnervingly opulent. Tastefully done!

Figured I would jump in with some insight regarding the scale length: changing the scale length on any of our bodies or necks for a one-off custom request is something we typically would not do. Way too much R&D time involved for very little payoff. The Mooncaster SSB body is the one rare instance where we just happened to already have it programmed and tested for 34", so we were able to do it per request.

And I am glad we did, because this build turned out spectacularly!

At some point we will get this option on our website....

So, you all have been dying to know what would become of 2021’s most famous bass neck. Well after 10 months from design to finish, the dream bass I was building (or assembling if your one of those gatekeepers) for my birthday is finally complete. Here’s the deets:

-Warmoth was nice enough to build me their Mooncaster bass body (usually a short scale) adapted for a 34” scale. Swamp Ash body with a AAAAA flame maple top. This is what they call a Black-Brown-Yellow burst with a clear gloss. Cream binding.
-TvJones Thunder’Tron pickups.
-Hipshot D bridge
-QParts knobs
-I usually go CTS, but my supplier was having issues, so I tried Bourns. Definitely different than I’m used to, but I see why people like them. Sprague orange drop caps, Swithcraft toggle and input Jack. All cloth wiring.
-Warmoth also made the neck. We’ll call it AAA flame roasted maple in a reverse Tele style. Cream binding. Jazz width at the nut. Clear gloss coat. Ebony board, Gold Pearl inlays. Hipshot tuners.

Oh yeah, and in case anyone was wondering, it plays and sounds just as good as it looks!

If you tell me that's the slim taper version of their neck, then, that bass simply checks all boxes for me (personally)! Either way, congratulations!!!!

Just curious. Do you find it more comfortable reaching below the head stock to tune? Bass is beautiful! BTW I usually refer to it as built/assembled too.

I love Warmoth. I have two guitars I bought used that are worth far more than I paid, and the quality is really up there. One day I’ll build one to my own specs….

Here are some photos of a Mooncaster that I am building with a friend of mine who is a luthier ( so I don’t muck it up ). Mine will be a short scale. Next step is choosing the sweet spot to route out for the single passive pick up!
