That would be a cool touch. Hell, even if it doesn't fit, if you're going to powder coat it anyway, maybe you could notch it as needed with a little die grinder or something and once the edges were cleaned up and it was coated, it would still look slick.
Which makes me wonder about putting a pickup cover on too, and powder coating that to match. Not sure if that would work with your plucking zone, or if you'd want to perforate your new pickguard for such an addition.
Oh, you said "pickupS." Maybe not the pickup cover...

Pickguard just shipped, going to route out the neck pickup space with wiring channel once I get it. I'll post all progress pics. All the stickers will have to wait a couple of weeks with all the virus stuff going around. I'd rather have someone local make them so I can support the mom and pops

You never really get over the loss of your parents. It's like having part of the foundation of your house knocked out. My dad died in the 80's but I still think about him frequently. He knew that I wanted a Mosrite bass back in the 60's and somehow he located one in a music store 60 miles from where we lived. This was way before the internet. I still have that bass and I remember the day that we went to pick it up.
Maybe you could use some of the knobs from your dads ham radio gear on the bass so you will always be touching something that was his.

Oh right...third hole is the output jack. Sorry, I was thinking about Strat pickguards for some reason.
My dad passed away about 4 months ago, he had Emphysema and being a retired RN I took care of him while he was on hospice, was not a fun time but I'm glad I did it. I'm a ham too and have had a few problems with neighbors over antennas but never took one down although I did have a 1000' length of copper wire disappear that I had strung in the trees once. (long wire AM radio antenna). How about getting an ICOM decal for the bass along with his call sign? Maybe a nice picture of a 6146 transmitter tube?
Good ideas all, I have his iCom's that I'll use when I get my license this summer. I have decals and all kids of stuff in the works. Just getting it together will do for now. Have to wait until after all this shelter in place stuff is done and I'll unveil those when they get made.

The rain and oncoming snow make routing a no go today. So hardware first, along with a quick mockup. The Nordenbocker fits perfect. Knobs look great. Black tuners are really looking killer.
I'll post wiring pics later today as that's the only other thing I can do today.
