NBD Tune 8 string!!

@cyberhawk Right now, it's on paper and heading into in the CAD stage with the OEM.

I'm considering applying for a design patent, so my attorney has warned against sharing any details until I have the production model in hand.
Wise. If you want to do some patent searching yourself, to see if you have any chance of infringing on an existing one, you can search on PatSnap. I think there is a subscription fee, but it's not bad.

For others, I've seen Brad's prototype, and it's very sweet. I certainly hope he's able to produce several of them.

Let's get back to the subject that brought us here.

So, @bholder, do you have any cool pics of your own yet? And plans of what you will use this beauty for?

For that matter, if you like to have straps that really match the instrument, I recommend checking out Coco Guitar Straps on Etsy. She does great work!

So 3D adjustability for each saddle?
Yes.

When i first got my Fernandes, I took it to a 2-hour gig with the intention of playing it for a song or two.
My 4-string Rick never came out of the case.
The band was mostly vocal, instruments were 1 gtr, bass, drums. Pop/rock,the 8 sounded really good, especially when the gtr player was doing a lead.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for that, you're making it work and that's great.I wish I'd gotten one in my heyday.Power trios were my bag.

It was mostly down to the fact that I had just gotten that bass.so basically i HAD to really check it out in the band setting.:D
But it was suprising that it sounded good on most all our original and cover material. I don’t use it nearly that much nowadays.

It's this setup decision that causes the "twist" folks are seeing. Base on what I have been reading, I'm expecting this is how I will set up my personal player.

@cyberhawk Seeing your setup and the layout of this bridge makes me feel even better about the choices I've made with my bridge design. So cool!
I think I'd want mine set so the string bottoms are even, not the tops (equal distance to the frets).

I posted some bridge pics in the other 8 string thread, I'll take more soon. No idea what I'm going to use it for, but that's true for all my instruments - just making music and having fun. :) I'll check out the straps link thanks.

Cleaned out the way to my back room and recovered my fretless eight just like that - now I remember why I don't play it - the action's way too high as if they just used the nut cut for the fretted height. An easy enough fix, I guess, but with that brass nut, will take a while. Still should be worth the effort, I can tell my intonation on it is indeed now better than it was last time I saw it. The truss rod definitely needs a twist too. But seems well worth saving.

Finding strings has been...fun.

I just found these SIT flats for 8 stringers, will have to try them on the fretless.

I emailed Fret Nation about ordering that set, but they say it's rounds - but they offered to make up a flats set in any gauge I want. So there's that. :)

The main things I need to do on the Brice fretless 8 though are file down the nut slots and adjust the truss rod to get the action reasonable...
