Over the last two years, I’ve been buying & selling basses, trying to find what’s right for me. In the end, I ended up with all 4-strings, which is cool... but I like having a 5-string on-hand. A five is a different instrument than a four. In my thinking, it serves a different purpose. And it didn’t take long before I found myself missing having one. So i decided, if I’m only gonna have one fiver, I want it to be a good one. After some diligent searching, I came across this beauty. It’s a 30th Anniversary EBMM Stingray 5 with one of the prettiest flame maple necks I’ve ever seen. [Edit 7/13/2020] - Because I am a wishy-washy, G.A.S. filled bass player who is always looking for the next thing, this bass is (quite regrettably) now up for sale. I need the cash to fund a brand new double-bass being built by Upton Bass. Feel free to hit me up with questions. This bass is ridiculous, in the best possible ways. {} {}
Thanks. If you stare at it, you get sucked into this weird wood-grain bass vortex. It’s impossible to look away.
Beautiful! Enjoy your newfound success and and rising tide of eternal joy. Every time a Ray is sold an angel gets its wings.
They're some of the best sounding too. The circuit they use in the 30th is voiced a little differently from my old 2009 Stingray. There's a definitely growl to this bass that I really like.
Musicman's flame maple necks are so stunning, in person even better. Congrats! If you're only going to have one 5 string a musicman is an excellent choice.
If I keep buying and selling all these basses, I'm probably gonna start drinking! Then a new liver will be in the cards... lol.
Now you are ready to rock with some rock solid tone. My EBMM Stingray 5 had its 30th anniversary this month, it was built in June 1990.
That's very nice. I did the same thing, sold off an SR5 to free some funds for another bass. Told myself I could always buy another one whenever I was ready. That was 2009 and I sort of miss the bass. Hold on to this one.
Yeah, I had a 2009 Honey Burst SR5 that was perfect. I never should have gotten rid of it. That era was great for Stingrays. This one's amazing in its own right. The pre is definitely different. But it sounds fantastic.
