NBD: Warmoth Fender Precision JJ Jazz

The PG came from Warmoth. I got it with the Warmoth body and kept it when I returned the body,

The PG fit the body perfectly. Mounting holes and neck pocked lined up great. But there was one problem. The opening output jack hole (tone pot for me) was closer to the mounting screw the the Fender PG is. The Fender body didn't have a big enough opening to fit the tone pot so I had to route out more of the control cavity to get things to fit. So while Warmoth's PG fit great, I think the control holes are not drilled in exact Fender locations.

The American Performer pickguards Tone pot sits further up the channel....so the holes do not line up with regular Precision pickguards.
I drill an extra hole and put a sticker over the Precision bass jack hole....unless I use the original American Performer pickguard

Oh, interesting. Comparing pics on Sweetwater I see. The Performer squishes the 3 controls together a bit, probably to make room to fit a pot in the space where the output jack was.

In my case, I am using small pots so I was able to clear out enough space in the body to fit.

Steel. Always steel. And standard (thick) profile. My L hand has problems with those thin/fast necks.

Years ago, Warmoth had a page that talked about steel vs graphite where indicated steel worked better for dead / hot spot reduction but at the cost of additional weight. Graphite was offered because of customer demand. That page isn't there any more.

I completely agree with always choosing steel reinforcement rods and their standard (thick) profile. I love their Precision necks on Jazz bodies! They stand up to our four seasons here in northeastern PA, and they simply feel extremely solid. I had requested a wider 1.75" (44.45mm) nut width, but they unfortunately told me that they couldn't build that, but their 43mm is certainly solid enough.

Having recently completed my 5th Warmoth build (https://www.talkbass.com/threads/nbd-warmoth-fender-precision-jj-jazz.1668897/), I figured it was time for a family photo shoot.

All are Warmoth necks. All finishes are from Warmoth. All but the last are Warmoth bodies. Each of these cost me in the range of about $900 to about $1300 for all the parts. I do all my own assembly and setup.

My favorite shifts around but the BMM P, JJ Precision, and 'Ray are the ones that get the most use at the moment.
