So my lovely 90s Spector NS5CR that is perfect for my original hard rock band was a little too much for my shoulder at a little over 10lbs. for longer rehearsals and gigs with my new 80s gig. A couple weeks ago, I walked into a pawn shop and came out with this super lightweight late 80s Kramer Forum. It's in great shape with only minor cosmetic blemishes and has active EMGs and a Hipshot detuner. It felt and played great in the shop even with higher action but after doing a medium low setup with some new Stainless Steel Super Brights it now plays awesome. It sounded even better than I thought it would with the band and it just fits better with the tunes we play. Though we aren't a hair band or cover that stuff, I've always had a thing for Kramers. Growing up I remember my older neighbor having one with the same cool logo on a banana headstock hung up next to posters of Ozzy and Maiden. It's also cool that I'm only 20 miles from where the American ones were made in NJ. This one is probably MIJ but bears Neptune, NJ on the neck plate which is still pretty cool for this Jersey guy.

Agreed - nice and simple with the switch on this bass.
...and thanks to the Bass Strings Online Super Bright sale I was able to find out just how great these strings are.

That really looks clean!! I love my old Kramer 650B lumie,they made some great instruments. Enjoy!
Looks like a Forum...II? I have a lefty Forum III (neck-thru), as well as a 450B lumie, and a couple of Dukes. I like Kramers a lot. And yes, the Forums were MIJ.
sometimes I see them with a brass nut, price really seems to vary, I saw one in near mint with brass nut go for $350+ shipping, while others in beat up condition are sittin on reverb right now for twice as much...though they are not moving, for that reason. I'm curious as to what you paid for it.
I didn't have a problem with my Forum III (it's in pieces at the moment), but it has a bar-type string retainer, which is either missing on that one, or -given Kramer's habit of making "running changes" - never had one. I imagine that there's quite a side load on that nut...
