NBD - "you're gonna hate it"

After tweaking the setup incrementally throughout the weekend, I'm much happier. The B string is now really nice. Playing across the neck with moderate touch yields no buzz, just over 1mm at the 12th. 1.75mm at the 24th. I don't think I need to level these frets. The last tweak was a bit of nut filing on the B and E.

Very punchy, great sounding and playing bass. I really like this neck profile for a 5. I like it enough, the baby blue 4 is on my radar.

Only other thing I'm considering is grounding P pickup poles. They buzz when touched. But they have wax on the bottom and I got lazy.

The only thing I don’t like is the headstock. I’m generally not into pointy, 80s looking headstocks, but that’s minor. I love the finish!

I also love the Big Al (I have a 5 string version) and the 25th Anniversary!

I got one as well as they are getting cheap now.

I made new nut, fixed an electrical ground problem and made a few other mods. For less than half what they were going for new, it’s a fun bass. Very angry and frowny EQ sounding if you want it.

Nothing wrong with those-I prefer the 4 string versions and also wished it had an active/passive switch, but it shouldn't be that hard to modify to that effect, so I would never rule out these Jackson models for my own use. Since first introduced, I never found the looks ugly, and I most definitely do not hate it at all!

I have the kind of "non-Jackson looking" Jackson Spectra bass model, and absolutely love it. FMIC is doing good by the Jackson and Charvel brands, IMHO. The regular Concert Bass is nice, but yours has a special appeal-and that color is indeed very nice.
