FYI - I heard that Bill Evans was attempting to record a solo piano version of "Some Other Time", but got "stuck" on the first 2 chords and improvised this gem:

It was quite a surprise that I was looking to buy a new 'second bass' and ended up with a new 'First Bass'. The new bass has Spiro Mittels on the bottom three and it handles those beautifully. Perhaps there's something about the Old Wood in an Old Bass. I don't know what it is exactly but I think I really got lucky with this one.
It has me thinking about selling my 'good bass' now. I had thought about putting Belcantos on that one and using it in the community orchestra, but I'm sure the new 3/4 would be more than adequate.
As my son likes to say, it's 'first-world problems'.
My experience parallels yours, but the opposite way. My 2021 New Standard hybrid was bought as a “second” bass, but has now replaced my mid-1800’s Tyrolean as my “first” bass!
