Nope, I've resisted the temptation.

Wouldn't it be something if I got home, opened the case, and this is what I saw:

I can't resist...
Possibly the worst TV special of all time was "The Star Wars Christmas Special. Forget "possibly". It was the worst....and,,,I played, on camera, with "The Jefferson Starshiop", "lip/view
synching" my tenor sax part, with a bass clarinet painted white and wrapped with tinfoil. Every year, at least one cartoonist nationally ridicules, rightly, this worst of all bad ideas. I'm so proud!

Last night on the road (thank goodness). It's called Microtel for a reason. If I had 2 double basses I'd have to sleep in the bathtub.

Made it home in one piece. We were fortunate to have some mild weather without too much heat. The well-insulated hard case meant that any temperature or humidity changes were very gradual.

I left the Spiro Mitts on the E and A and ended up putting a Spiro mitt on the D as well. I put a Perpetual on the G but may experiment by putting back the very nice gut string that came on the bass on the G string.

Fantabulous bass, It sounds so beautiful acoustically you can back off the amp in rooms that favor bass. Thats the benefit
you should really enjoy. Basses built in Czechoslovakia and Romania benefit from the wood they had and to some extent still have available.

Thanks Don. I'm not sure what the noise is but I heard that also.

Sounds like air turbulence, as from a fan or vent. I've also heard that sound when a cat happened to rub its cheeks on the microphone while it was recording.

Either way, beautiful bass and glad you made it home safely!

Besides it's other great qualities this bass is LOUD. I wish I had some of those strolling violin jobs I used to get 40 and 50 years ago. (Boy, am I getting OLD).

I rarely did those. Occasionally I got stuck on one because a local event planner thought it "added value" to the event. With the
Kolstine Busetto Travel Bass I could definitely do those gigs today, but for me their more about cosmetics than acoustics. With that
new bass you have you could literally "blow the patrons out of their chairs".

First gig with the new bass

Played a gig with my trio tonight, piano, bass, and vocalist. I had a bad cable on the mic on the first tune so I turned off the amp and played acoustically and it was fine - no amp needed. However, to help save my fingers, I replaced the cable between tunes and brought the amp back online.

With or without the amp, the new bass KILLED IT. Beautiful tone throughout the range. I have rarely (if ever) enjoyed playing more than I did tonight.
