Man, these Auto stereotypes are never gonna end are they? I have THREE T Birds, all are well under 9lbs, they don’t neck dive, they ain’t muddy and no headstocks have shattered into splinters
The left Thunderbird is under 8lbs, the white one is around 8 pounds, the 5 string is heavier because it it is much thicker.
That’s not bad at all.
I was under the impression that those puppies were made out of mahogany.
They are. They're real and they're perfect!
They are. That doesn't automatically make them heavy. All 3 of mine weigh the same as my alder Pbass (8lbs 6oz).

I'm fairly new to the TBird scene too (got my first one a few years ago) but I'll warn you now - these things are addictive (proof is in the pic below). The Eppi and Gibson birds do play and sound a bit different from each other but both are solid high quality basses that deliver the goods in any setting. Enjoy your journey to the dark side, you chose wisely!

My mahogany Japanese Orville Gibson Reverse Bird weighs 7.8 of your 'Merkin pounds. So so heavy, I'm going for a lie down.
Nothing heavy about this, except for the tone.
Just got rid of one due to mission overlap, and I can’t abide by sunburst anything...you scored there, my friend...
My Gibson is around 8lb 4oz and my Epi Goth is around 8lb 9oz.
Not heavy.
OP, that IS black, correct? If not, I recall my sunburst comment, but only for this particular thread.

It’s not black, but it also doesn’t look “sunburst”. It looks the perfect dark mahogany, but I guess it’s supposed to be “sunburst”.
