Makes me think of Ian Drury and the Blockheads. 
Nice. They look good and warm, but think you need to get some tort laces....
What is really funny is that mine came today too. 
I think they'd be excellent for metal! If you wear them halfway unlaced they'd work for punk.
I have a 5.11 Tactical backpack that's been around the world [and then some] and looks as new as the day I bought it. If those boots hold up like my backpack, be prepared to include them in your will.
Thankfully, I haven't had to deal with your idea of NBD in about 5 years. I've been in Florida for half that time, and in Kansas for the other half- both jobs are "drive to" and so I don't even hav e to think about it!
That being said (and probably because i gloat too much about the snow and crap), I may find myself back in a snowy climate sooner rather than later, due to "potential" career shift yet again...
We'll see if I have to post a NBD, ala CarpeBasso-style! LOL
