Peavey T-40......Wrong knobs. Neck and saddles need a tweak or two but already very close to how i like them setup playability wise. That is all

Only pic I can find on short notice because I only used it for recording.....it was a burgundy color, which I heard was rare....owned it for a long time but didnt have any sentimental value --- until way after I sold it. Yeah, it was stupid...The Stingray pictured is also gone -- but I don't miss that at all. I have had a love/hate relationship with Rays: When I dont have one, I miss it and want one....Then I get one and, after a bit, I'm "Meh...I miss my J basses..I dont need this" and off it goes...This has happened three times in my life since 1989 but I think Ive finally beaten it :D

It's been many moons since I played a T-40... so I don't remember what they're like.

Sonically, do they resemble other basses? Or are they completely different from anything else?

Aside from "heavy," what do they feel like? Big chunky necks?

Thanks for the insight.

I bought two of these new, back in the day, $349 + tax, case included (the first ones had G+G style cases, before the plastic ones), and if you'd have told me what they'd sell for now, I'd have laughed out loud.

Hartley launched this (and the T60 guitar) with all the subtlety of a brick through a plate glass window. The Industry cried 'ya can't build guitars by computer! They must be handbuilt! (while at the same time, CBS sold the new Fender owners a joke of a factory where they were, indeed, built by hand, with fail-rates that would turn a rookie QC Manager white-headed instantly). Of course, they sold like hotcakes and still have a following.

Somewhere on his Gulfstream, HP is having one more laugh. And you know, lots of guitars and basses are built by computer these days, and we're all better for it when you look at how good $500 and under basses are. 'Beginner' instruments were firewood when the T40 launched.
