NCAA Basketball - 2011

Had a late dinner and turned on the UNC-Marquette game at half. I couldn't believe the score. 
Started to watch the second half but the Heels started so strong, it was too painful for my Milwaukee-native wife to watch.
UConn and UNC are hitting their stride at the right time and are capable of beating anyone left. But that said, I think that I would take whoever comes out of the East - Carolina-Ohio State-Kentucky.

I can't believe the boys in blue knocked out Ohio State. What a game! The last couple of minutes of that game are what the tournament are all about.

Nice job on picking Kentucky. Just as I jumped on the Ohio State bandwagon, it came to a crashing halt after a Wildcat attack.
Mike and I both have a Carolina-UConn semifinal; I have Carolina winning that game and the tournament; he has UConn winning the whole thing.
If those teams lose their next game and Kansas makes it to the final - bigfatbass sweeps in and takes it.
6 out of 8 of the brackets are in the 70% or higher percentile - so overall as a group we are doing well. The largest ESPN group with "G**tar" in the name only has 6 out of 38 brackets at 70% or higher. And the largest "Drum" group has about half the entries at the 70% or higher level. Pretty much confirming what we already know.
I love the variety of teams left. In terms of seeds there is 1 1, 2 2's, and a 3, 4, 5, 8 and an 11.
The updated 538 projections now give Ohio State a 0% chance of winning and Kansas has the best odds at 43%. FLA, NC, Kentucky and UConn in that order are next pretty tightly grouped from 9-12% each.

That is a start. But haven't I read somewhere that "pride goeth before destruction."
But 7 conferences are still alive including all of the Big ones except the Big 10 and two mid-majors. Makes it interesting.
Dan, I probably should have been more clear. It's not so much pride as a reaction, a sense of satisfaction after the SEC was derided during the regular season as one of the worst major conferences this year. Having more teams go deep into the tournament than the perennial media favorites (the ACC and the Big East) is pretty cool for this "football" conference.
That said, both teams, like all the others left, could certainly go out in this round. Butler, as expected, has played a whale of a first half against the Gators.
Ugh. Gators blow an 11-point lead twice and take bad (25-foot) shots at the end of regulation and in their last two possessions of overtime.:scowl: I'll give credit to Butler for the comebacks and showing poise, but I think the Gators, had they effectively used their talent, would have won. Oh well, it was a good run.
What a game.
All the SEC needs is for a few more schools to step up their programs the way that Florida did - they already have one of the iconic programs in Kentucky.

I hear you, AZ had two decent shots for the win at the end. Getting Williams into foul trouble was the key.
