NCAA Football 2017 Week #10

The other possibilities:
Scott Frost, UCF. In college football, the pull of the alma mater is strong, so I'm guessing he goes to Nebraska. If not, I like what I've heard about him, but I'm still learning.

Dan Mullen: Hard to gauge, IMO. He had great numbers as the OC at UF, but obviously he had Tebow, Harvin, etc. On the other hand, what about his lack of success on offense at Miss. State outside of the Dak era? Is that understandable since recruiting to that school must be a lot tougher than at UF?

Chip Kelly: Well, he knows how to run a college offense, certainly. Very few ties to the state--that hurts, because the recruiting competition is so fierce now. Also, he had that NCAA issue near the end of his Oregon tenure.

Bob Stoops: I think he's done and not coming back. Also, the "Big Game Bob" nickname became a joke.

Charlie Strong: I love the guy, but I think he's got more to prove. USF's schedule has been quite weak thus far.

Willie Taggart: Didn't his tenure at Oregon almost end before the first game? I'm not sold.

Gary Patterson: I like him a lot, but I don't see him leaving.

Mike Norvell, Memphis: No clue.

Taggart is out in front of the rumors saying he is committed to Oregon, which we all know means he is on his way to Florida. Lame move in my opinion and will just put Florida further back. He did get off to a really rocky start at Oregon with three of his players getting hospitalized thanks to what appeared to be an out of control strength/conditioning coach.

I'm with you on Charlie. I so wish he was ready, and of course he lost his first game last weekend. I don't want to do this again in 2-4 years.

Kelly and Stoops: Nope, no thanks. West coast guys should stay on the west coast. After all the crap Stoops said about the SEC over the years, he needs to stay way even if he wanted back.
Dan Mullen.....I could get behind that hire. I think you're spot on though about his success being linked to some really special college players while he was at UF.
Frost, Patterson, and Norvell....eh, whatever. Norvell is great at Memphis? Congratulations. That's JV in the SEC.

I have to believe Stricklin, the Florida AD, understands the seriousness of this hire and won't go out and pull some coach from the 'this guy is gonna be really good someday' pile.

Didn't expect to find a ton of fellow sports fanatics on here. The UK in my SN is for the school....not the country.

Cats played sloppy yet did enough to beat the imploding Tennessee Vols on Saturday thankfully. Ole Miss comes to town this Saturday in what will most likely be another ugly game that Kentucky should win and move on to an extremely quiet 7-2 on the year.

Welcome, welcome. Always good to have another SEC fan in the threads. I align myself with the Gators, who held their season together long enough to steal a victory from y'all a few weeks ago.
I did some IT work in Lexington years ago, went out there a handful of times over a few month period, so I am partial to the Wildcats....and bourbon.

Don't get me started on this year's game! How do we leave 2 Gators uncovered? How?

Such is the life of a Kentucky fan. Lexington is a fine place to live. Music scene isn't great, or rather wasn't. Seems to be moving in a positive direction. Never made the trip to Gainesville.

I like Lexington a lot and have a good friend there.

But I'm still lamenting Beam taking Beam's Choice (Green Label) out of production. Dammit, that was my bourbon for 30+ years!!

Dreadful, embarrassing showing by the Gators today vs. Mizzou. They had the talent today to win, just no heart or desire. Pathetic.

It's turning into a wild day with OSU and PSU losing. Looks like its Badgers or bust for the Big Ten in the playoff.

Oklahoma wins, but allows 640+ yards in the process. I said this before a few years ago in regard to Oregon--I don't think a team that has allowed 600+ yards of offense in a single game has ever won the national title. But I could be wrong.

Bucky is all that's left in the Big 10. Ohio State didn't do Oklahoma any favors today. Not that the Sooners' defense did them any favors, either. Georgia and Clemson weren't overwhelming. It's going to be interesting to see how it all scrambles up tomorrow when the rankings come out. Of course, it's not over yet, because Washington hasn't played. If all goes wrong, Oregon could beat them. That would be cause for gnashing of teeth and rending of garments here in Seattle. I'll only find out what happened after the fact due to a schedule conflict. Oh, well. I'm not a superfan.

UW better not lose to Oregon.
This is the one game per year I actively root for UW, especially when the game is in Seattle.
All the dopey drivers from Oregon clog up the roads, driving 55 in the fast lane and otherwise acting like they're superior to the rest of the northwest because they have good cheese and Nike.

Well, apparently they didn't. Dante Pettis should be under consideration for some kind of award. Anybody who punts the ball in the field of play anywhere near him is a complete idiot.

As in, he's headed elsewhere? After the last two weeks, I'm not sure his market value is all that high...

Yes.
I saw him make comments how his players are distracted, and credit to him for taking responsibility for them losing focus, but I think he's distracted too.
I think talks are going on about him moving on. Sure, PSU is a high profile job, but there are others out there too.
