Dartmouth looks like a juggernaut. We can just hand them a title. Maybe. That's what's great about the Ivies. Other than that, it's 11:30 on the West Coast, and I think everything is pretty much done now. Rankings come out tomorrow. It's going to be a scramble. It's always amusing to see how far upset teams fall and what happens to teams that didn't blow out a winless opponent (Washington over UCLA for example) rise or fall. It hasn't happened yet, and I missed most of it making noise and just looked at scores from this week. So it goes.

As long as Washington, who were probably looking past UCLA to Oregon, beat the snot out of the ugly green uniforms, all is good. It won't be 70 to a whole lot less. Stanford doesn't look too good right about now, so Washington has to start beating people a little more convincingly.

It's a good thing for Alabama they aren't playing Dartmouth this season. Go Green!
Sacred Heart visits Hanover for a Saturday evening game. Can the Big Green go undefeated? Maybe, but they have to stay focused on games like this one that on paper they should win.
No Ivy League game on national TV this week. The next one is 10/19 when Yale travels to Penn.

Rankings are out. I'm a little surprised Dartmouth isn't there. Something must be wrong. Yale plays Mercer, who were blown out by Alabama. College football scheduling makes no sense.

No surprise at the top. I am a little surprised to see Washington ranked 7. I expected UCF to jump over them. Two little surprises in the rankings in one week.

It's really starting to look like this will be the year Notre Dame makes it to the CFP, where I fully expect them to get blasted into orbit during the semi-final game by Alabama and we have yet another Bama-tOSU/Clemson/Georgia final. Ugh.

Oklahoma has a bye week and they're going to need it. It also looks like Mike Stoops has ****ING FINALLY been fired: Mike Stoops finally out as Oklahoma DC, per multiple reports. I swear if the Sooners had a different DC they'd have won the natty last year, since nobody could stop that offense (or really this one - even when we lost to Texas we still hung 45 on them and took them to the last 30 seconds). Oklahoma is still a blue blood and a coaching dream job, so they shouldn't have too hard a time finding a replacement for the black sheep of the Stoops family.

FSU also has a bye, which may be good so they can conduct interviews for Taggart's replacement.

Aggies, meanwhile, travel to South Carolina for what should be a very tight game. Right now the odds are too close to call, but Carolina has yet to beat the Aggies since they joined the SEC, so I'm expecting this one to be a classic in the making.

Ha, I think FSU and Taggart are essentially married for a good while.

"Taggart signed a six-year, $30 million deal to become head coach at FSU. He will be under contract until January 31, 2024." "If Taggart is fired by FSU at any point, Taggart will receive 85 percent of the remaining compensation left on his contract. The payments would be made on a monthly basis over the remaining term of the contract." FSU also spent $4.4 million on his buyout from Oregon and the rest of his buyout from USF.

Washington is going to be a tired team pretty soon. They played UCLA after UCLA's bye week, and now they get Oregon coming off their bye week. Washington doesn't get a week off until the week before Oregon State. They will need it badly by then. Football beats people up pretty badly.

Nebraska was up 14, and up 10 with six minutes to go, before losing to Northwestern. 0-6.

Does the Pitt football program exist solely to choke to Notre Dame? Up 14-12, they end two straight drives with missed field goals. Then ND scores a touchdown.

Well, crap. Washington lost a nail biter to the University of Nike and ugly uniforms. I had a feeling this might happen, what with Oregon coming off a bye, but no excuse. Two missed field goals and there you have it.

At least Yale won. Dartmouth is beating the stuffings and a lot of other things out of Sacred Heart. With a name like Sacred Heart, they shouldn't even have a football team. Maybe they don't.

Four undefeated teams remain in FCS. One of them is in Hanover, NH as the Big Green bury Sacred Heart 42-0 to improve to 5-0.
All kinds of records and streaks in play for the Big Green. It's a good time to be a Dartmouth football fan right now.
Enjoy if through the weekend, back to school Monday.

I got the word on that as the Oregon-husky game was concluding, and I've been following it. There's a lot of speculation about who the GameDay guest game picker will be:

HOO-RAW! Next week's GameDay is going to be worth watching. I have no idea how many Cougar flags there will be, but it's safe to see you've never seen as many as will appear. I'm also sure there will be a few feature stories, because this won't be your standard GameDay. It's Cougar Flag day #216, 15 years to the day since the flag's first appearance on GameDay.

Best part? I'm going!! We scheduled a trip to Pullman more than a month ago. I have the tickets, we stay with one of my best friends so lodging is no problem, and one of my brothers, my sister, and my other best friend are all going to be there!!

Cougar nation will converge on Pullman this coming weekend in a way that's never happened before. Link Removed better stock up on burgers, and Invalid Link Removed will have to have extra ice cream. I predict more Cougar Gold cheese will be sold in one weekend than ever before in history.

My Trojans got a nice win over previously undefeated Colorado. If they get past Utah at Utah (which is a tall order), they could run the table for the rest of the season. I do believe SC's good enough to beat ND in the Coliseum.

Nebraska is 0-6. That's just...weird.
