NDB: Fender American Deluxe Jazz

After many trips in to the local L&M and many hours A/B'ing many deluxe J's I've finally settled on "the one". Love everything about it from the tone and feel down to the black pearloid block inlays. It does hum a bit in active mode at loud volumes though, a proper shielding job is on my "to do" list for today. Love this bass!

Congrats! I have a 2013 model that's been a real workhorse. The playability has been a real hand saver on 4 hour gigs. Great basses.

sweet. love the natural finish on those basses. was seriously considering one myself, but went with a P since i already have a nat J. Congrats!

Lovely! Are the strings slightly lined up to the right (off center)?
Could be if the bridge has no grooves, so it's an easy fix.

Yeah the pics were from before I put rotos on it and set it up. It's all aligned now.

I played that one. Nice price too compared to the white one. I liked the USA Geddy a bit more and went with that one.

Man I was so close to taking home that white one. I had a hard time choosing between the two. Ultimately it came down to the fact I like the look of the natural personally. I haven't had a chance to play the USA Geddy yet. I found the MIM one to be a tad slender feeling but I hear the USA's are beefier.

It is, and a bit more than the one you picked up. They have another one there now...didn't take long. The white was the one I thought a lot about...but it's almost $650 for paint over the natural one.

You should not have to fix a shielding/hum issue on a brand new Fender - perhaps L&M would do it for you. Enjoy that beauty!

Congrats! These are great basses. I picked one up earlier this year and bonded with it immediately. Got the trans white/maple fb. Feels like I've owned it for thirty years...

IME Fenders can be hit or miss. When you find one that feels that good you should never let it go. When I found mine(2013 American Standard) I never put it down. I also saw the same thing happen to another gut at a Sam Ash. Found the Fender that felt right and never hung it back up. Wouldn't chance someone else coming along while he hunted down a sales man and snatching it away.

I still don't care for block inlays(I prefer dots).

But natural is my 2nd favorite color for a Fender Jazz. 3tsb is my all time favorite. But those bound necks play like heaven.

3tsb just too common across guitars and basses for me to really buy one. I'd go natural with a nice grain first.
