Neck binding: yeah or nay?

Big no. Looks old to me. Some say "classic". Same for blocks.

Don't really care for binding. Refrets are harder, wood (structural and resonant) is being removed and replaced with plastic (not structural and not resonant), and it looks cheesy.

It depends on the rest of the machine, fits some better than others.

Last summer I came the belief that if you like get it and use it. Active/passive, 4vs 5 strings, tube vs SS vs class who cares, etc.

I'll happily play a guitar with neck binding, only if the body has binding as well. But altogether, I hate binding on basses. No idea why.

If it is someone elsees bass, I am all for bindings.

I like the look but wonder if it weakens the neck.
Seems like most of the early Fenders with blocks and binding are more often prone to the dreaded ski jump neck.
Has this ben corrected on new basses and if so, is it only those with graphite reinforcing rods?

So little fb wood is routed for binding that any causes of neck issues need scrutiny elsewhere. (like starting with the neck wood itself…)
