Neck binding: yeah or nay?

Not a deal breaker, by any means, but if given a choice, I prefer necks without binding (though I'm fine with body binding). Strictly a cosmetic preference on my part, though I should think it makes a re-fret easier as well.

Feel & playability wise, I'm okay either way--but aesthetically I would prefer the neck only to be bound if the body is, if the body is unbound, then I'd prefer the neck to match.

A thin' I love on Jaguar necks, excludin' the Jazz bass nut (I dig P classic nuts most) is the block-no-bound look

Depends on the bass. Some look good with it and some better with out it.

I really like it, and can't stand block markers without it; I love dots with or without it, but in general it is a nice option.

I'm a sucker for bound necks. It doesn't have much effect on refret unless it has binding "nibs" that cover the fret ends like on a Les Paul or a Ric bass. The fret tangs have to be cut back a little, no big deal. I've always wanted a blocked and bound Jazz.

The nibs are gone on my '75 Jazz. Only a few remain.

The binding nibs look cool, but often get filed off during refret, kind of a silly detail long term. I've never seen a Jazz with nibs, maybe only the deluxe models?

Side dots are the bane of the bass world. Personally, IMO... They should be banned, in order to force people to know
the geography of the fretboard. They're a crutch... Training wheels of the bass world.

No binding in my world... No dots, no lines, and occasionally, no frets too!

But, I'm still contemplating this after seeing Edgar Meyer recently...
