Neck for Bass-Adrenaline

Hello again, welcome to another installment of "Who want's a custom neck".....

Here are some specs:

5 string neck to fit a Warmoth Gecko body
7 piece Mahogany/Cocobolo/Ebony
24 fret Madag. Ebony fretboard
35" scale
Cocobolo Block inlays
Jumbo Stainless steel frets
Dual action trussrod
Graphite nut
10deg headstock tilt
Threaded inserts

Fretboard:

Before I start cutting the cocobolo and ebony, had to mask up and do a hair check

Resawed the cocobolo, then cut all the neck pieces to size, by tracing the template on all parties involved..

Din't get an immense amount done last night. Trimmed and glued together the inner laminates.

Trimmed:

Wiped down the pieces with acetone and glued them up, with titebond "dark" glue.

Clamped it up:

Could not plane the mahogany though, too late to run the planer (it's pretty loud).

Yep, it was a combo, hair check and safety combo.......

Unclamped the center pieces and scraped the excess glue off.

Gotta surface the pieces, before gluing the mahogany.........

So nice! I cant wait till this starts taking shape after its all glued up!

Now enter Mahogany......

Got it planed and wanted to do a dry fit,...... after that I put it up to the light, just in case.

Then, glued it up and on with the clamps......

Please excuse my ignorance but whats the black stuff between the mahogany and inner pieces you glued earlier?

It's a small piece of veneer, that's less than a mm thick... It'll sharpen the look between the mahogany and the cocobolo, a nice and clean line, if you will..

Ok, so today I've levelled the surface and took a few pics of what It looks like now..

Adrenaline, This was the veneer I was referring to, look between the cocobolo and the mahogany:

Used a finger planer to knock down the mahogany pieces, to the headstock angle.

Yeah i know what ya mean. I tend to do the same thing when i work on paintball stuff or my car. lol

If i had any woodworking skills at all im sure i wouldnt be able to stop that either.
