Necks with rolled edges

I use the flat file. When I bevel the fret ends, I keep going and get a bevel on the edge of the board.
That video is totally useless. No way I'm using a razor blade on a glossy maple fretboard. It looks terrible. I'm no expert and I've done a better job on unfinished wood with micro mesh pads. The edges are actually rounded off and polished, not merely beveled. To each their own I guess. Luckily sharp edges don't bother me on finished boards.

Agreed about the video!
I'm not super fussy myself, but I always do a bevel on the fingerboard when I'm doing the frets, and then I sand the edges along with the frets - so yes it ends up rounded, not a hard 45.
I wouldn't go too far on a finished maple neck for someone else because you're exposing bare wood - it might get dirty.

Would you go as far as refinishing the gloss poly coat? I'm tempted to "fix" my Vintera P, but worried I'll screw up the refinishing stage. I haven't done anything remotely like that before.

Go for it
It's easy
Just take a razor blade and stand it on edge ... dont worry about the finish
White you work it
Then a soft cloth with some tur oil or tung oil to shine it back up
Or wipe on poly
Your preference
PM me if you need a hand

You will have to educate me .
What's a vn and cn
Mine are both 89 squire II slab pbasses
One I added forearm and belly contours
The other still slab ... I added music man pick ups to both in the bridge position

my squier II I know is an E series.. the other is an 89 but the sticker was taken off and replaced witha a fender p sticker.. both the II are reliced and repairs.. pretty much look like they were play'd in a punk band
