Need a good compressor stompbox pedal!!!

Hey guys, Im looking for a good stompbox compressor to go with my setup. I have a Marcus Miller Jazz Bass and want to even out my slap tone. I was thinking about the EBS MultiComp. sounds great. Also looking t the Aguilar compressor, didnt hear how that sounds but i was going for it based on sheer reputation. I have a Aguilar Tone Hammer and love it. what do you guys think

I had a Demeter Compulator and got rid of it for an Aguilar TLC. It's incredibly clean and thoroughly versatile.

However, the Compulator is also a really simple and great sounding compressor that can be had for fairly cheap on eBay.

Also this: http://www.ovnilab.com/ is the best place to go with questions you have. That's how I ended up picking both the Compultaor and the TLC.

Thanks for the link -- should have checked there first! Can you comment if the new Pod X3 is any different sound wise from the Bass Pod XT Live compressor review on the site? Did they spend any time improving the compressor models or just adding more bells & whistles?

That was a very valuable resource when I was choosing which one to go with.

For me, it came down to the EBS and the Aguilar. I think that the EBS is a nice compressor if you aren't into tweaking, as I felt you don't have a lot of options for shaping the compression. I think it's a good choice for someone with a "hands off" approach, or someone who doesn't want to fuss too much with a compressor.

I eventually went with the Aguilar, since it has more tweakable parameters. I needed about a week or two to really dial it in different settings, but I absolutely love it.

The EBS sounds great if the output of your bass matches well with it's input. Same goes for the Compulator. The TLC is better than both of them to me as it lets you adjust the threshold which is critical to getting the right kind of response from a compressor. I also had a Maxon CP9 Pro+ which was great, but honestly the TLC is even better.

Yeah man, ill look at the Aguilar TLC before i choose. I love Aguilar products and ALL of their pedals sound great.
